Warning to parents: Do not bend the flex in your children's breakfast

LONDON (Reuters) - British health authorities are warning parents not to offer corn chips and sweetened chocolate to their children for breakfast, the local Sun newspaper reported.
According to the source, the expected guidance to health agencies in Britain, will recommend parents to avoid preparing their children's breakfast of chips that are admired by most children, given the serious health consequences.

The new guidelines for the Public Health Authority will recommend the introduction of healthier alternatives, containing less sugar, in an effort to reduce the chances of young people becoming obese.

Health experts are advised to offer juices, yoghurt and crispy wheat products to children rather than sweetened corn flakes, especially as health data warns that one out of every three children in primary school in Britain is obese.

Nutritionist Alison Tidson says the change would reduce the amount of sugar children eat in the Corn Flakes.

Health data in the UK show that one child is eating the equivalent of 4 cups of sugar a day, compared to the limit.

When a child consumes sugar at this rate, this means that in his tenth year he will have consumed what he is supposed to consume in 18 years.
