The first commercial clone service in China reproduces a famous dog

Joyce is a stunning one-foot dog who has starred in dozens of Chinese movies and TV shows.
As he grows older and his star rises to fame, his resident in Beijing hopes his dog will live for a long time - perhaps forever.

Joyce, the hybrid dog adopted by his neighbor from the street, was nine years old and could no longer conceive after his early age. But his owner, animal trainer He John wants to continue the fame of his dog by reproducing him.

"Joyce himself applies intellectual property rights and is socially influential," John said.

To achieve this, He went to Sinogin, the first biotech company in China to reproduce it. News of the company topped the headlines after it successfully cloned a hunting dog in May last year. A month later the commercial cloning service was launched.

Pet owners can clone their animals for 380,000 yuan ($ 5,565).

Mingzhong CEO Mij Gudong said his pet cloning line was still at an early stage.

"We have discovered that increasing numbers of pet owners want to be accompanied by their animals for longer periods," Mei said.
Biotechnology in China is developing rapidly compared with similar projects in the West, with relatively fewer regulatory constraints.

In the case of Joyce, Sinogen was able to isolate the dog's DNA and vaccinate an egg.

Joyce was born in mid-September and stayed with his replacement mother at the company's factory for a month. The puppy was then given to Leh in a small ceremony attended by Joyce the Great.

"We think he will be better than his father," said John, who has yet to be touched by the young art world.
