Scientists discover the "missing link" between ancient and modern humans
Archaeologists said they had reached important conclusions about controversial human remains, and confirmed that scientific discovery provided an answer to a missing link in human history on Earth.
The fossils found in South Africa date back 2 million years and are likely to be a transitional period between the Australopithecus, known as the Southern Monkey and the branch of modern humans.
The controversy over the remains was raised ten years ago, but today, scientists assert that it served as a bridge between early man and man who appeared later.
The remains form a link between the ancient man known as Pelosi who lived three million years ago and the "skilled man" (Homo habilis) who lived 1.5 million to 2.1 million years ago.
According to the scientific discovery, man is still a branch of a strain dating back two million years, according to the scientific journal.
Scientists differed strongly about the remains, initially. While some said it was an undiscovered species but linked to humans, others argued that it was completely different and descended from another strain.
But this difference is no longer possible, today, as researchers have identified several common characteristics of the remains discovered in South Africa and the modern human type.
