"Game of Thrones" breaks into the world of beetles with 3 new names
An American insect scientist has chosen names from "The Game of Thrones" or "The Laroche Game," to release three newly discovered beetles.
According to the "Huffington Post," the three beetles belong to the genus "Gymnetis", called the names of "Drogoni drogoni" and "Riagali rhaegali" and "Viserioni viserioni", the names of the three dragons of the series, which has spread widely in the world.
All of these beetles are pale orange like the flame of fire. In origin, Drogoni and Viserone come from Ecuador and Colombia, while the white origin of Riagali originates in French Guiana.
Brett Ratcliffe, a researcher at the University of Nebraska, oversaw this scientific effort and says he is a fan of HPO's "Game of Arush" series.
The researcher chose the names of "Al-Arush" in the hope that environmental awareness will spread, thanks to the great fame achieved by television series.
He added that science "is still discovering new things on the ground," explaining that beetles form one of every four organisms living on our planet in view of their large number.
"The science has not discovered all the beetles that live on the ground so far, but he is still far from achieving this," he said.
