A 5-year-old child weighs 76 kilograms because of a rare disease
The five-year-old Brazilian suffers from a rare disease that weighs up to 76 kilograms, three times the normal weight, making him suffocated at any moment by the accumulation of fat in his body.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, Misayel Caldugno Abru, 5, from the Brazilian city of Espirito Santo, was born with a normal weight of about 3 kg, but he was gaining weight quickly, his appetites were always open, and he never stopped eating.
"His heart is working under a lot of pressure, and if he does not get the chance to get treatment, his death is very high," said his father, 38-year-old Manuel Abru.
Doctors believe he may be suffering from Prader Willie Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes constant hunger and lack of satiety. Although he follows a low-fat diet and walks for 40 minutes every day, he is still gaining weight.
"The weight of Mesaile increases by 5 kg every 3 months, and there is no cure for Brader Willy syndrome in Brazil," said pediatric neurologist Lucio Coelho Miranda, who looks at the young every three months to try to control his weight.
"I think that Maysayel should get help from outside Brazil, both medically and financially, so that he can conduct tests and genetic tests to determine the mechanism of treatment."
